Amelia Mack, Lead Designer in the Children's Division at Chronicle Books in San Francisco will be on campus to present on job and internships for designers and illustrators, as well as their year-long, full-time Design Fellowship. Amelia will discuss the designers’ role across children’s and adult titles, as well as specifics about her role as a children’s book designer and art director. This presentation is geared towards both designers and illustrators—designers interested in print design and illustrators interested in book work.
The Chronicle Books Design Fellowship Program is open to graphic and industrial designers, and runs from summer 2019 - summer 2020. It is a year-long paid position for graduates from 2018 and any previous graduates still in the early stages of their book design career.
This is a great opportunity to break into design for publishing, as many Chronicle Fellows go on to become full-time staff. More information on the Chronicle website. Also visit the Chronicle Books blog for inside information on how to create a strong application.
This even is open only to SVA students and alumni.
