Guerrilla Branding: Making Your Library Indispensable is an interactive workshop that guides attendees through a day of learning on how small organizations – from startup companies to nonprofits, build ties to a community through disciplined but highly creative strategies and tactics.
As a participant, you will receive a guerrilla outreach guide and work both individually and in groups to begin brainstorming issues, strategies and tactics. Throughout the day, NYU professor and Forbes contributor David Vinjamuri will provide insights, best practices and tools to help you think clearly about your library’s current situation and begin to identify the creative strategies and programs that will propel your organization toward its goals.
The cost is $60.00 per ticket for staff/trustees from MAIN member libraries and $70.00 per ticket for staff/trustees from non-MAIN member libraries. This covers the cost of the program, coffee, breakfast and lunch. Please note that libraries will be billed directly by the MAIN office, and not through Eventbrite.
The workshop will help library directors, marketers, communications directors, and other library staff as well as board members to understand how to engage with their communities in a high impact manner with limited budgets and tight resources. This workshop will focus on substituting a crisp strategy and vivid imagination for a large budget.

The five training modules are divided into different topics and/or exercises:
Building an Indispensable Brand: crafting a strategy; steps in process of creating a plan; importance of strategy before tactics.
Inside the Library: space & purpose; recalibrating your event strategy; 10 outreach tips; group discussion; tactics worksheet.
Outside the Library: moving outside the library; ABCs of low-budget branding; smarter events & partnering strategies; 10 engagement ideas; design a summer pop-up.
Social Media: 10 Facebook tips; getting to know Twitter; visual social media platforms; podcasts/blogs; 10 social media outreach tactics.
Building Your Guerilla Branding Plan: turn discussion and thoughts into a real plan - develop a strategy and the plan tactics for inside/outside the library and online.
