This course is approved for MPOETC CLEE continuing education, and is worth 3 hours. It is designed to allow you the opportunity to observe alongside a certified 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher. You will learn call routing and processing, E-911, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio interoperability and redundancy, Portal XL, and other topics. Seating is limited to 1 person on a Tuesday or Thursday with a slot in the afternoon (2 p.m. until 5 p.m.) and evening (6 p.m. until 9 p.m.). Please use FREE TICKET to reserve your spot. Where should I park my vehicle?
It is recommended that you park your vehicle in the main parking lot or in the overflow parking lot to the rear of the courthouse. Do NOT park your vehicle in the smaller parking lot that has law enforcement type vehicles as those parking spots are reserved.
What should I do when I arrive?
If your observation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. (1400-1700) please enter through the Main Entrance. If your observation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. (1800-2100) please call the non-emergency police line at (717) 272-2054 and someone will step outside to meet you. The meeting location will be in the area of the handicap accessible ramp (rear of building).
What can I bring into the event?
You may bring your cell phone, but please place it on silent or vibrate before entering the 9-1-1 Communications Center.
