The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, in partnership with the Ohio Justice & Policy Center and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, is holding a training for attorneys and other legal professionals on the Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) and record sealing and expungement. Over 600 laws and regulations in the Ohio Revised Code automatically prohibit individuals from seeking certain employment opportunities or occupational licenses, depending on their conviction, criminal history or arrest record. These laws and prohibitions, known as collateral consequences, can severely diminish individuals’ ability to find safe, stable housing, obtain employment and secure an economic future for their family.
Legal professionals will learn more about the CQE and record sealing in this training, client eligiblity requirements, filing processes, and recent changes to Ohio law. Refreshments, coffee and beverages will be served. 2 CLE credits, which are free to registered participants, are available for this event.
