Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 9 a.m.: Cuyahoga County HHS Staff and Reentry Professionals
The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry is holding a training for attorneys and other legal professionals on the Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) and record sealing and expungement. Over 600 laws and regulations in the Ohio Revised Code automatically prohibit individuals from seeking certain employment opportunities or occupational licenses, depending on their conviction, criminal history or judicial record. These laws and prohibitions, known as collateral consequences, can severely diminish individuals’ ability to find safe, stable housing, obtain employment and secure an economic future for their family.
Legal professionals will learn more about the CQE and record sealing in this training, client eligiblity requirements, filing processes, and recent changes to Ohio's record sealing laws. Reentry Professionals and Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services professionals will learn about Ohio legislation which created the CQE, basic information regarding record sealing, differences between record sealing and expungement for adult records only and client eligibillity requirements. Refreshments, coffee and beverages will be served. 2 CLE or CEU credits, which are free to registered participants, are available for the appropriate event. Please see "Training Dates" to determine which event to subscribe for.
