Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 9 a.m.: Cuyahoga County HHS Staff and Reentry Professionals
The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry is holding a training for Reentry Professionals and Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services staff on the Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) and record sealing and expungement. Over 600 laws and regulations in the Ohio Revised Code automatically prohibit individuals from seeking certain employment opportunities or occupational licenses, depending on their conviction, criminal history or judicial record. These laws and prohibitions, known as collateral consequences, can severely diminish individuals’ ability to find safe, stable housing, obtain employment and secure an economic future for their family.
Reentry Professionals and Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services professionals will learn about the Ohio legislation that created the CQE, basic information regarding record sealing, differences between record sealing and expungement for adult records only and client eligibility requirements. Refreshments and coffee will be served. 2 CEU credits, which are free to registered participants, are available for these events.
