UPDATE! THIS BUS HAS BEEN CANCELLED (DIDN'T RAISE ENOUGH COST SHARE IN TIME). FIND A SISTER MARCH HERE IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT TO DC
Here is the FB page for the Greensboro bus. Look for updates, info, videos, polls, etc posted there between now and when we leave for the march.
ABOUT THE BUS:
We are cost-sharing the bus expenses for the bus departing from Greensboro, NC. We will have the same driver for the entire trip, which means that we will not be sharing "leap-frogged" drivers as can happen on other trips. Commercial bus drivers are allowed to be on duty for up to 15 hours; however, our driver will only be on the road about 6 hours each day, ensuring she or he is fully rested. We're paying a little extra for this peace of mind.
Please be aware that your cost-share (ticket) is non-refundable as we have to pay the charter bus company in order to secure the bus. You may transfer or sell your cost-share ticket if you are unable to attend. Please let the organizer know of any changes.
We will DEPART at 1:30 pm on Friday 1/18 from First Lutheran Church, 3600 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC. Please park in back of the church.
We anticipate arriving at Holiday Inn in Arlington, Va at approx. 8 p.m.on Fri. 1/18.
We will DEPART the Holiday Inn in Arlington at 6 p.m. sharp on Sat. 1/19.
ABOUT THE HOTEL:
We have reserved a block of 25 rooms at the Holiday Inn in Arlington, Va. The hotel is located 1 block from the Rosslyn Metro Station. All rooms are non-smoking and have double beds. YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR ROOM BY 5 PM ON JAN. 7TH. You may cancel your reservation with no penalty by 5 p.m. on Jan. 16, 2019. After that, the hotel will charge your credit card for your room.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HOTEL REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT. Rooms are $99/night + tax and includes a breakfast buffet on Saturday morning. Once you pay your cost-share ticket, we will email the reservation code to you. You must use this code in order to secure one of the blocked rooms at that rate. PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THE RESERVATION CODE WITH ANYONE ELSE in order to ensure that all riders have an opportunity to secure a room. It is our understanding that hotel is currently sold out of double bed rooms for the march.
We will have a room available for you to leave your luggage after you check out on Sat and while we are at the march.
We encourage sharing a room with a fellow bus rider. You can chat with fellow bus riders in this FB group about sharing a room. Once your cost-share is paid, we will add you to that FB group ASAP.
ABOUT GETTING TO THE RALLYING POINT:
We will be just a block away from the Rosslyn Metro and it is only a few stops away (no transfers) from the rallying location. PLEASE RSVP TO THE MARCH IN ORDER TO RECEIVE RALLY AND MARCH INFORMATION. You can RSVP to the march here. We will try to have printed information about the rally & march information when you board the bus.
If you wish to purchase your Metro card in advance, you may do that here. It can take up to 10 days to get your Metro card in the mail. You also can purchase a Metro card at the Metro station in DC. If it's like 2017 March on Washington, we were only allowed clear backpacks. Several of us who went to DC for the first march purchased this one from Amazon and it held up well.
