Join us for an evening with New York Times Best Selling and Newberry Award-winning author Kwame Alexander at the annual Gayle A. Zeiter Children's & Young Adult Literature Conference.
The Gayle A. Zeiter Literacy Development Center, Southern Nevada Writing Project and the Lied Library are pleased to host this year's Gayle A. Zeiter Conference. The mission of the Zeiter conference is to engage teachers, librarians, budding authors and illustrators, university faculty and students of all ages, in an evening of exploration and engagement with renowned Children's and Young Adult authors.
This year's conference features a keynote by Kwame Alexander titled The Write Thing. During his talk, Kwame Alexander will engage educators and writers in how to tap into creativity for reading and writing and share the essential tools and techniques that will get have attendees leaping creatively off the ledge to becoming confident writers.
Refreshments and desserts will be served, with some great door prizes too!!!

Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, and the New York Times Bestselling author of 28 books, including SWING, SOLO, and REBOUND, the follow-up to his, NEWBERY medal-winning middle-grade novel, THE CROSSOVER. Some of his other works include BOOKED, a NATIONAL BOOK AWARD Nominee, THE PLAYBOOK: 52 RULES TO HELP YOU AIM, SHOOT, AND SCORE IN THIS GAME OF LIFE, and the picture books, OUT OF WONDER, SURF'S UP, and THE UNDEFEATED.A regular contributor to NPR's Morning Edition, Kwame is the recipient of numerous awards, including The Coretta Scott King Author Honor, The Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Prize, Three NAACP Image Award Nominations, and the 2017 Inaugural Pat Conroy Legacy Award. He's led cultural exchange delegations to Brazil, Italy, Singapore, and Ghana, where he built the Barbara E. Alexander Memorial Library and Health Clinic, as a part of LEAP for Ghana, an international literacy program he co-founded and that recently built a health clinic and library in the village of Konko.
