Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva were the defending champions but Fernández retired at the end of the 1997 season.

Martina Hingis and Jana Novotná defeated Zvereva and Lindsay Davenport in the final, 7-6(7-4), 6-4 to win the Ladies' Doubles tennis title at the 1998 Wimbledon Championships.[1]
