Elephant Research Foundation, first known as Elephant Interest Group (EIG), was a non-profit organization established by evolutionary biologist and elephant specialist, Professor Jeheskel Shoshani in 1977, and closed down in 2017. Shoshani was also the editor of its publication Elephant, as well as a very active contributor to the Elephant Listserver (email@example.com),  created in 1995 by elephant consultant Dan Koehl.
