Gary W. Gallagher is an American historian who specializes in American Military History, the Civil War and Civil War Memory. He is the author, co-author or editor of numerous books on those topics, as well as a frequent speaker. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he is currently the John L. Nau III Professor in the History of the American Civil War at the University of Virginia.^[1]
