Unseating incumbent Jorge Exposito, he was elected in 2013 as Commissioner in the City of Miami Beach. Grieco resigned on October 24, 2017 after pleading 'no contest' in Miami-Dade County criminal court to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of accepting a campaign donation made in the name of another. He was sentenced to one year of probation and was not allowed to run for office during that time in a deal prearranged with prosecutors. Grieco was also ordered to pay $3,000 to the State Attorney's office and $3,000 to the Miami-Dade Committee on Ethics.
Grieco won his election to the Florida House of Representatives' 113th House District on 6 November 2018 from the platform of the Democratic Party. He secured sixty-three percent of the vote while his closest rival Republican Jonathan Parker secured thirty-eight percent.
