Saturday Mash-Up! is a British Saturday morning children's magazine entertainment programme on CBBC and BBC Two[1] first broadcast on 30 September 2017.[2] It is presented by Joe Tasker, Harpz Kaur and a puppet called Stanley.[3][4]

It is CBBC's first series in this genre since TMi moved to Fridays in 2010. It is said to "continue the tradition of iconic Saturday morning programmes such as Live & Kicking, Going Live!, Saturday Superstore and Multi-Coloured Swap Shop".[2]

A second series has been commissioned, which started on 29 September 2018 and aired on CBBC (with repeats on BBC Two from the previous Saturday morning). A third series has been commissioned which will start in 1 February 2020.

Format

Every week, the series broadcasts live from dock10, MediaCityUK in Salford. The show consists of celebrity guests, gunge, games, sketches, alongside CBBC shows,[5] and focuses on a live chat with children across the United Kingdom, either on the phone, or a web chat.

Segments

A puppet head of a dinosaur also appears each week, often signing a song before coughing up smoke and being forced to stop as well as making comments and helping with the viewer comments each show

Gunging

The viewers watching the show voted on who they wanted to be gunged between two or three options. The only exception was the first show when the mash-up monarch chose Steve Backshall to be gunged.

In Series 2, the format was changed slightly, as viewers voted to see who they would like to be gunged, with the celebrity selected having to answer questions over the span of ninety seconds. If a question is correctly answered, they are not slimed. If they answer incorrectly, they are slimed via bucket. At the end of the ninety seconds, the celebrity must answer a final question. This question is always outlandish and nearly impossible to answer correctly. If answered correctly, they escape. If answered incorrectly, they are slimed heavily with multiple buckets, leaving the celeb covered in slime. No-one has ever gotten the final question correct. In the Christmas episodes there is no slime VOTE. Instead All guests get smiled and they sing a Christmas song. In the last episode of series 2 the format was a bit different as the slime leaderboard followed the best slimings the Show ending with the presenters getting covered with five buckets of slime.

Celebrities that have been gunged/slimed include Steve Backshall, DanTDM, Vick Hope, Kimberly Wyatt, Naomi Wilkinson, Lindsey Russell (twice), New Hope Club, Road Trip, Oti Mabuse, Lewys Ball, Olivia Grace and Lovevie, Coulson Smith, Mark Rhodes, Briony Williams and Cat Henstridge.

How Many Things in the Thing?

A number of an object (for example, footballs) are placed into another object (for example, a phonebox). Viewers at home on the phone must guess what number of an object is in the other object.

Make Me Viral

Viewers are asked to send in a picture of themselves doing something different each week (for example, throwing away their homework).

Mash-Up Monarch

Each week, a viewer watching at home is chosen to make various decisions to make. These include choosing what episode of a programme to show and choosing who does a task like tidying up the studio or eating a gross item.

Push Off

Two celebrities must push a shopping trolley into a pyramid of 800 toilet rolls to see how many they can collect. Each toilet roll is worth a point, with the golden toilet roll being worth 10 points and the brown toilet roll causing them to lose 5 points. They can choose between 3 trollies, which change each week. While the crew count the rolls Nelson plays a game with the contestant called "Jonny's random supermarket item pricing game while we count the toilet rolls". The loser is hit in the face with two custard pies.

Stars Behind Bars

A celebrity is 'locked up in jail' and answers as many questions they can in 100 seconds.

Detention Seekers

A/two celebrity/s is put in detention and has to answer questions about themselves until the school bell rings. On one occasion, instead of a celebrity, Penfold from Danger Mouse was used.

Question Slime

A person gets voted who gets slimed. A person answers this question and have 90 seconds on the clock. If person gets correct, 1 point will be awarded. However, if the person gets incorrect, and gets slimed.

Here is the Ultimate Question Slime after 90 seconds on the clock when it's time's up and. If the person gets the correct answer, 20 points will be awarded and become the top of the leaderboard. However, if the person gets incorrect, and gets super slimed by all persons.

Double Dare

Previously shown on Going Live!, a rebooted version of the old Peter Simon game show and features 2 Teams (Red & Blue) and hosted by Cat Henstridge of The Pets Factor fame, and it was best known for Henstridge to fall, during the final round, into the Gunge.
