Latin derived from Ancient Greek?

This line seems very doubtful to me. I'm quite certain Latin did not evolve directly from Greek except in fanciful tales of Troy. "is derived from Latin and, through Latin, Ancient Greek" -- Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.219.237.254 (talk o contribs)

I suppose this means "derived from Latin, including loanwords into Latin from Ancient Greek" - filelakeshoe (t / c) ? 21:53, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

Archaic forms

I see that "Megaman en m" has deleted an archaic form from the table under "Relation to other languages"--an action that I fully agree with. Megaman, I urge you to delete the rest of the archaic forms from that table. An encyclopedia article is (or should be) just an introduction to the topic, not a treatise. Inaccurate maps

Some maps have been proposed here, showing where Spanish is spoken. We do need such a map, but need an accurate one. For example, both maps claimed Spanish to be spoken in France. No doubt there are French people who know some Spanish, as well as Spaniards living in France, but that is true for almost every major language in every country. Spanish has no official status in France, nor it is spoken by any considerable minority (in contrast to the US, where it of course very much is spoken by large groups). Furthermore, please note that the US is one country. Either we divide all countries into states/provinces, or none, but we don't claim the US is completely unlike all others. A complete and accurate map is certainly needed, but perhaps too lofty a goal for a single contributor. What about an incomplete, but accurate, map with some countries colored or marked in such a way that indicates the status still needs to be determined (from a sourced popflock.com resource perspective)? That way, the map can be improved over time by potentially multiple people helping, rather than needing to be figured out all at once by a single person. 2600:8800:7900:1A9:28A9:9076:F857:6B87 (talk) 04:39, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Belvedererafaella (talk) 07:52, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
