The {{WikiProject Trains}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:
{{WikiProject Trains | small = | class = | importance = | portaldykdate = | portalSAweek = | portalSIweek = | unref = | refimprove = | pr = | oldpr = | stations = | streetcars = | streetcars-importance = | subway = | subway-importance = | NYPT = | NYPT-importance = | Japan = | UK = | UK-importance = | UKTrams = | UKTrams-importance = | Scotland = | Scotland-importance = | NZR = | NZR-importance = | WashingtonMetro = | Underground = | LUL-importance = | SovMetro = | Thomas = | Thomas-importance = | DE = | DE-importance = | India = | India-importance = | bycountry = | images = | locos = | maint = | maps = | model = | monorail = | operations = | passenger = | portal = | timelines = | mapneeded = | Mapdetails = | imageneeded = | Imagedetails = | infoboxneeded = | listas = }}
It is important that the capitalisation shown above be used. For example, using by mistake for will fail to place the article within WikiProject Streetcars; similarly, using instead of will not add the article to WikiProject London Transport.
