NBL seasons

The 2019-20 NBL season is the 42nd season of the National Basketball League since its establishment in 1979. With the addition of South East Melbourne Phoenix, there is now a total of nine teams that contest in the league.[1] The regular season will be played between October 2019 and February 2020, followed by a post-season featuring the top four in March 2020.[2]

Australian broadcast rights to the season are held by SBS Viceland in the first year of a two-year deal. All 126 games will be available live and free on streaming platforms such as SBS On Demand. ESPN will also broadcast 59 games including all games after 7.30pm AEDT.[3] In New Zealand, Sky Sport are the official league broadcaster.[4]

Nine teams will compete in the NBL, one more than last year since the entrance of the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

Pre-season

The pre-season of the started on 19 June 2019 and will end 16 October 2020. The pre-season features games in China and the United States. As well, it featured the NBLxNBA 2018 Tour in which five NBL teams played a total of seven games.

Regular season

The regular season will start on 3 October 2019 and finish on 16 February 2020.
