Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual were the defending champions, but they decided not to compete together. Ruano Pascual partnered up with Meghann Shaughnessy, but they lost in the first round to Cara Black and Elena Vesnina. Medina Garrigues partnered up with Liezel Huber, but they lost in the semifinals to Serena Williams and Venus Williams.

The Williams sisters won the title, defeating Kv?ta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in the final 6-2, 6-3. With this win, the Americans became the sixth and seventh women to have completed a non-calendar year Grand Slam in Women's Doubles. Additionally, the Williams sisters achieved the World No. 1 doubles ranking for the first time, becoming the first sisters to be co-ranked World No. 1 in doubles. The win also gave them their 2nd Career Grand Slam in Women's Doubles.
