The men's tournament was part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour. The women's event was played in International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women's Circuit.

In 2015, both events were moved to the top level of professional tennis, with the men's tournament becoming an ATP World Tour event and the women's tournament becoming a WTA Tour event.

The tournament is held annually at the Nottingham Tennis Centre[1] within the University Park area of Nottingham.
